Grant Goals
The Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse will utilize
funding from the CSAT Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Coordination
Grant to:
Grant Activities
Statewide Leadership Council
The Statewide Leadership Council on Adolescent Substance Abuse
Treatment will direct, coordinate and oversee efforts to assess and
improve substance abuse treatment services across all systems statewide.
From this council four sub-committees were formed to closely examine the
following systems:
Statewide Survey
This survey will gather baseline information from all
DASA funded programs.
Statewide Needs Assessment
Focus groups will be conducted in all six regions with:
Strategic Plan
Consists of compiling all data sources.
Support Workforce Improvement
Provide Evidenced-Based Practices trainings on: "Foundations,
Infusion, Training the Trainer and Coaching." Also provide funds to augment
statewide trainings aimed at improving the adolescent workforce and
adolescent treatment organizations. Support will also be given
to enhance staff support for the Statewide 24-Hour TeenLine to assist youth
in crisis and disseminate information about youth treatment resources.
Needs Assessment-Results to date (as
of December 2006)
To assess Washington's statewide adolescent substance
abuse treatment system, DASA conducted a treatment improvement survey to appraise adolescent treatment
providers' use of established best practices, conducted and compiled data from focus groups, presented this information to the Statewide Leadership Council which
resulted in the establishment of the top 5 issues related to adolescent
chemical dependency treatment, and
addressed workforce development issues related to recruitment, retention
and training.
